In recent years the Polaroid Company has been most famous for its versatile cameras that instantly process the picture using patent dyes and specialist paper; that wasn’t always the case. Polaroid began in 1937 with Edwin Land’s patent of the Polaroid name, which came after 8 years of testing and re-testing his patent; his synthetic polarised material which made the Polaroid Company a household name in the 1940s. Edwin Land went on to create a multitude of different patents that have changed the way we live forever. Here at Shade Station we are honoured to stock frames and lenses from such an innovative brand, and our taste for innovation is certainly satisfied with Land’s creation.
